Building Up vs. Tripping Up

Aug 9, 2026    Rev. Lex DeLong

Are your personal freedoms building the church up, or tearing a brother down?

In our culture, we are often quick to demand our rights and defend our liberties. But in the Kingdom of God, the law of love always supersedes the exercise of our personal freedom.

The Apostle Paul challenges us with a radical thought in Romans 14: it is better to voluntarily sacrifice our rights than to become a stumbling block that damages a fellow believer's conscience. "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up."

This week, we are diving into Romans 14:13-23 for a new message titled, "Building Up vs. Tripping Up." We will be exploring the beautiful, difficult tension of Christian liberty and why preserving the spiritual health of your brother or sister is infinitely more valuable than proving that you are right.

I would love for you to join us this weekend as we unpack what it truly means to lay down our liberties for the sake of love.
